Chef Xavier Deshayes brings a French influence to this quintessential American restaurant. The lively atmosphere at Haywood’s offers approachable yet sophisticated food, quality wines, craft cocktails, and piano jazz. A favorite of locals, Haywoods’ ambiance reflects the friendly character of Lexington.

Farm-fresh seasonal fare

Chef Deshayes uses fresh local and regional materials to create traditional grill courses, ranging from hand-cut steaks, fresh chicken, duck, and various species of fish and seafood. Our menu evolves with the seasons as much of our produce comes from local growers – including Chef’s own farm!

Our expertly curated wine list features both new and old-world wines as well as selections from local vineyards. Specialty cocktails round out our drink menu.

The atmosphere at Haywood’s is casually elegant and the service is efficient and intuitive. In a nod to our namesake, diners will enjoy live jazz and piano every Sunday evening. Haywood’s Courtyard is open seasonally for dining al fresco.

Our menus change frequently based on seasonal availability. Check our social media for current menus.

Chef Xavier Deshayes

Meet Haywood’s Head Chef, Xavier Deshayes. A native of Béziers, France, Chef Xavier was born into the restaurant business.

Some of his fondest childhood memories are of the days when he was allowed to help with his family’s restaurant kitchen, adding spices, stirring sauces, and creating new menu items. His formal culinary training began at the age of 18 with six years of studies at Lycée Hotelier Jeanne D’Arc in Aulnoye Aymerie, France.

As Restaurant Chef for the award-winning Truffles at the Four Seasons Toronto, Xavier elevated it to become the only restaurant in Canada to receive the coveted AAA/CAA Five Diamond designation. He has received accolades from Bon Appétit, Gourmet, and Esquire magazines.

Xavier worked in Washington, DC, as the Head Manager for the Ronald Reagan Building and the Supreme Court before leaving the city to experience farm life in rural Virginia.

“As you enter the Haywood’s, you will be greeted by the sounds of live piano, which is played by local musicians throughout the evening, and an interior that is warm and inviting, with low lighting, and exposed brick walls.”
