Western Virginia’s Great Valley, cradled between the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains, is both a mountain and road biking enthusiast’s paradise! Home to countless miles of breathtakingly beautiful trails and rolling country roads, all within close proximity to The Georges, bike lovers have the option of stealing away on bike for a couple hours, for a day, or for multiple days!
Mountain bikers have much to choose from in the area. Within minutes of The Georges, you can hop on the Glenwood Horse Trail: North End or the more challenging Brushy Hill Preserve trails. Nearby Douthat State Park is a mecca for mountain biking enthusiasts, and is also well worth a visit. For a flat, gravel trail riding experience, consider heading out directly from the hotel to the Chessie Trail, a pleasant 12-mile round-trip excursion.
If your preference is road riding, the bucolic hills and spectacular rural setting is the perfect backdrop for escaping on your two-wheeled vehicle. Lexington and Rockbridge County is the idyllic home for world-class road riding!
