About Lexington

For a town of only about 7,000 people Lexington seems to surprise visitors because of just how much there is to do here. Sitting amidst 78,000 acres of national and state parkland in scenic Rockbridge County, the city of Lexington, Virginia is a historic college town, the home to the Virginia Military Institute and Washington and Lee University. Our historical attractions start within the walls of our own two Georges buildings and include a variety of landmarks, museums, and access to historic battlefields nearby.

Main Street Lexington provides the quintessential shopping and strolling experience, with a number of boutiques, galleries and restaurants just steps away from our front door. And then there is our breathtaking natural setting: The Shenandoah Valley and surrounding Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains are, quite simply, beautiful. The opportunity for outdoor recreational activity such as hiking, biking, kayaking, climbing, fly fishing, white water rafting, tubing, skiing or even spelunking are limitless.

All of us at The Georges love to share our own recommendations of things to do in and around town. We’ll be sure to ask if you’re looking for anything in particular during your stay with us.
